1What is the LRT3 Project?
The Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT3) is the third LRT system in Klang Valley.
This is in line with the Land Public Transport Commission’s (SPAD) Urban Rail Development Plan (URDP) of the GKL/KV Land Public Transport Master Plan to connect the western corridor to Kuala Lumpur City Centre via integration with existing railway lines.
It also will be one of the key projects in supporting the development of a reliable, efficient, integrated, and sustainable land public transport system to enhance socio-economic development and quality of life for the people in Klang Valley.

2Where will the alignment start and end?
LRT3 is a double track rail alignment of approximately 37 km operating between Bandar Utama to Johan Setia. It will traverse across the areas of Bandar Utama, Kelana Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang before terminating at Johan Setia.
The alignment will have 26 stations with 5 stations identified to be served as Integrated Stations connecting with existing and future rail/transit lines.

3How will the project be managed and built?
Prasarana as owner of the project has appointed MRCB George Kent JV as the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) in managing the timely delivery of the project and within the agreed budget.
4What was the justification for selecting the proposed alignment?
In developing the alignment proposal for LRT3, the appointed consultants have proposed several options for the alignment. A wide range of selection processes had been conducted in several stages prior reaching to the preferred alignment.
The alignment option which has been proposed for LRT3 is based on detailed technical studies with the following advantages taken into consideration:
- High ridership per kilometer, covering areas with high growth potential of future population within the alignment.
- Enables integration with other public transportation networks; LRT2 Kelana Jaya Line, MRT1, KTM Komuter and BRT Kuala Lumpur-Klang.
- Minimal environmental impact with great social benefits as the alignment will connect the community to education centers, residential, commercial and industrial areas.
The alignment option which has been proposed for LRT3 is based on detailed technical studies with the following advantages taken into consideration:

5When will construction start?
The construction is targeted to start in Q3 of 2016.
6When is the estimated completion date of the project?
The LRT3 is expected to be in operation by 31 August 2020.
7What is the cost of the LRT3 project and who is funding it?
The project is estimated to be worth RM9 Billion, excluding Land Acquisitions. It will be funded by the Federal Government utilising the allocation under Dana Infra National.
8What will be the proposed fare schedule?
It should be standardised with the fare rates offered by RapidKL, the operator for LRT services in the year 2020. This is subject to approval from SPAD.
